Ice Cream Social Volunteers

The planning for the 9th Annual Free Ice Cream Social is well under way, and it’s shaping up to be a wonderful day! In addition to the free ice cream, there will also be free kids games and rides, live family-friendly entertainment, and so much more!

This year’s event is being held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The event will again be held at Riverside Gardens in Leo.

As always, we depend on over a hundred volunteers to make this event a continued success. We are asking for a 2-3 hour commitment, with shifts starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM as follows:

  • Set Up – 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Event Shifts – includes working games, rides, inflatables,  ice cream station or concessions
    • #1 – 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM
    • #2 – 12:45 PM – 3:15 PM
  • Parking Helpers – help facilitate parking in the large grass lot (must be 18 years old)
    • #1 – 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
    • #2 – 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
  • Tear Down / Clean Up – 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Volunteers are needed to run games, scoop ice cream, monitor inflatables, dress in costume, and various other duties. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the submission form below.

PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers must be at least 12 years of age. If you have young children who will be at the event, and you wish to volunteer, we ask that your children be under someone else’s care during your shift so that you are able to focus your full attention on your assigned job.

NEW THIS YEAR: JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS A select number of junior volunteers (age 8-11) are invited to volunteer. These junior volunteers will be paired with another adult volunteer and will help run the games. 

All positions will be filled on a first-come basis. You are welcome to invite friends, parents, spouses, etc., to volunteer with you. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER to work at the ice cream social. As a small thank you for your time, volunteers will be provided with a free event t-shirt to wear during the event (and to keep as a walking billboard for next year!). Additional t-shirts (including youth sizes) may be ordered in advance for $10.00 (payable at the event).
