Ice Cream Social

June 17, 2017

Each year, Kate’s Kart hosts it’s one and only fundraiser as a ice cream social. This event, geared for families and held on Father’s Day Weekend each June includes free ice cream, games, music, rides, costumed characters, pony rides, inflatable and much more. Corporate and business sponsors make this free event possible, along with providing additional funds to support the purchase of new books.

The 8th annual Ice Cream Social was held on June 18, 2016 at Riverside Gardens in Leo/Cedarville. Over 2,000 people attended the growing event and over $25,000 was raised through sponsors and onsite donations. We look forward to our 9th annual Ice Cream Social on June 17, 2017.

Barnes & Noble Holiday Book Drive

December 2016

Each holiday season, we are honored to be chosen by Barnes & Noble as the recipient of their annual Holiday Book Drive. For 2 months in November and December, customers of the 2 books stores in Fort Wayne are asked to purchase a book for Kate’s Kart. Together as a community, we are hoping to collect over 5,000 BOOKS to stock our many karts. We are humbled to see so many people work together to help supply enough books to stock the karts for a couple months.

As of December 20, we currently have 3,101 books donated.  Thank you!

Festival Of Trees

November 2016

It’s always a treat to experience the Festival of Trees each year at the Embassy Theatre. Every year, volunteers design and decorate a tree that shares a little bit of our story.  This past year, our tree focused on first Christmases...the ones that give us those wonderful Christmas memories.  We all remember sitting on Santa's lap, making lists and anxiously awaiting to see what was under the tree.

Although the tree is on display at the Embassy during the week after Thanksgiving, we are fortunate to have it in our office the entire year long.  Stop by and catch a glimpse the next time you are in the area.

2016 Crayon Drive

August 2016

In August of 2016, a challenge was extended on social media for 100 people to donate 20 boxes of Crayola Crayons. It was an attempt to increase our crayon supply for our coloring and activity books while they were on sale for Back To School. The Kate’s Kart Community blew this goal of 2,000 boxes out of the park! Over the course of a month, well over 5,000 boxes of 24 pack Crayola Crayons were donated. It was so fun to watch all the crayons come in and for our tower of crayons to grow and grow.

Three River’s Festival Parade

July 2016

In July of 2016, Kate’s Kart walked for the 4th year in a row in the 3 River’s Parade. Going along with the theme of “Indiana’s Bicentennial”, we chose to honor Indiana native, Norman Bridwell, author of the beloved Clifford The Big Red Dog Books. Our float included our own big dog, along with kids reading their favorite Clifford Books. Dozens of volunteers walked and passed out over 10,000 goodie bags filled with a bookmark, tattoo and candy. Yes, Kate’s Kart is “BIG ON BOOKS.”
