Ice Cream Social
Our annual Ice Cream Social is one of Kate’s Kart’s signature summer fundraisers. Supporters across Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio can visit participating ice cream shops, enjoy a sweet treat, and help support our mission of sharing books with hospitalized children.
Annual Events
From summer gatherings to holiday giving campaigns, Kate’s Kart hosts annual events and drives that offer meaningful ways to get involved. Explore what happens throughout the year and find the opportunity that’s right for you.
July – august
Crayon & Colored Pencil Drive
Kate’s Kart collects crayons and colored pencils each summer to help keep our book carts stocked with creative supplies for hospitalized kids. Large stores often have them on sale for $0.50 for Crayons and $0.99 for Colored Pencils. Donations can be sent directly to the office or dropped off during office hours.
November – December
Holiday Book Drive
Kate’s Kart partners with Ft. Wayne Barnes and Noble stores each holiday season. It’s super easy, while you are in the store doing your holiday shopping, choose an extra book (or 2), purchase and leave at the register. Kate’s Kart will pick up the books and get them out on our Karts.
January – February
Bookmark Contest
Do you know a young artist? Every year we encourage children of all ages to enter our bookmark contest. Several winners will be chosen and their design will be printed on our bookmarks that are handed out with each book and at community events. Contest runs January and February.
December 1, 2026
Giving Tuesday
On Giving Tuesday, Kate’s Kart joins a global day of generosity to support children and families in our community. Every gift helps fill hospital days with books, comfort, and joy.

Festival of Trees
Kate’s Kart proudly takes part in the Embassy Theatre’s Festival of Trees each holiday season. It’s a festive way to connect with the community and celebrate the season of giving.
