Xander Powers Dedication
December 2, 2011
We are so honored to have added our 15th kart this month at Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton, Indiana. The dedication of this kart was made even more special due to the fact that Zach and Meghann Powers had chosen Kate's Kart as their memorial for their precious son, Xander, who passed away in July, 2011, from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The Powers' received books from Kate's Kart while at Lutheran Hospital with Xander. The books touched them and encouraged them to give back! Our new Kate's Kart was made possible by a generous donation from the Powers family in memory of their son. We are so humbled to see hurting families come together, to brighten and encourage other families. The support of thousands of families all over the country amazes us beyond all belief. |

Ebony Fawcett
November 2011
Ebony is a frequent patient at Lutheran Hospital who eagerly waits for Kate's Kart to visit her room. She is very proud to be a reader, and often brings new books with her to donate back to the kart. Ebony is definitely an Awesome Kate's Kart Kid!
Following is a short note that Kate's Kart received from Ebony's mother:
"God blessed me with the adoption of Ebony. When she moved in with me, I noticed several Kate's Kart books. Just last month she was tested by her teacher to see where she stood at the beginning of the school year, andshe is reading at the beginning of third grade (and has yet to attend one day of first grade). Kate's Kart has helped her want to learn more and she asks what day the kart will come each time we are admitted. She loves to shop for new books for "the kids of Kate's Kart" when the ladies come to her room she just waits, smiling and giggling because the kids will love the books she picked for them. We love your sharing with the kids and will to do something to express our love as well after treatments are completed. Thank you for blessing our lives and providing books, smiles and memories forever, Beth Ann and Ebony Ann Fawcett" |
